We’re marking 170 glorious years of delicious Cointreau with a summer celebration dedicated to the legendary orange liqueur.
It is of course one of the two key ingredients that make up that quintessential summer cocktail, the classic Margarita.
While we know that Cointreau was first distilled in western France in the mid-19th century, the origins of the Margarita are not quite so clear.
Dallas socialite Margarita Sames is said to have created the cocktail for friends while on holiday in Acapulco in 1948. Or it may have been invented by a Mexican restaurateur a decade earlier for famous Ziegfeld dancer Marjorie King.
Whichever story is true, the heady blend of Cointreau and tequila with lime has long been a favourite cocktail across the world.
Come along and raise a glass to one of the best liqueurs in the world!
